Freemasonry In New York - Making A Good Man Better!

The history of freemasonry started from the time when they were stone masons, who built churches or cathedrals around the time of King Solomon. Guilds or associations were started as unions  to barter for payments and to maintain standards of building in their profession.

Today, freemasonry in New York and other places is no longer a society for operatives masons, rather it is symbolic in nature as the members share an interest in the old craft. It is a society that accepts members from all races, creeds, religions, and social status. The teachings are fundamentally based on the principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth, which supports the rule that you do onto others as you would wish them to do onto you.

Masonic rituals and ceremonies are meant to impart knowledge and wisdom by way of symbolism and examples. They are all about morality and the truth. Over time, a new member progresses through the three degrees being, Entered Apprentice (1st Degree), Fellow Craft (2nd Degree), and Master Mason (3rd Degree) in which he receives a different moral lesson at each level. Such teachings promote personal growth of character and encourage Freemasons to become better citizens as the advertising logo of the Freemasonry says, “Freemasonry - making a good man better”!
